white stripes — architecture at the WU campus vienna

This is building D2 SC at the new campus WU here in Vienna. Some may call it the “zebra house” because of its irregular black and white parts. From a technical point of view I was convinced that this design must be related to some kind of a wave, you know, something like Sheldon Coopers Doppler Effect Costume. Not least because when looking at this building from above, you see that the front of it is shaped like a wave. But today I found the correct answer for this riddle…

According to campuswu.at the architects got their inspiration from Millefeuille, a French dessert. Aha! But when searching the web for some images, the results are a bit more colorful ;-)
