Hoher Dachstein

This summer, we spent our holidays with some friends in Ramsau am Dachstein. Ramsau is a beautiful, quiet mountain village at the foot of the Dachstein glacier, perferct for relaxing from the stressful city life. The village itself is on top of a plateau which lies around 1,100 m (3,600 ft) above sea level. With this elevation the temperature is always colder than here in Vienna, which was great in this extraordinary hot summer: we enjoyed temperatures around 23°C while our flat in Vienna felt like a low-temperature cooking oven.

Our boardinghouse had two balconies: From one side we could see the summits of the Schladminger Tauern in the distance. For taking this photo I went outside because I wanted the wooden pylon in front of the image, but basically this is what we saw from the second balcony: the scheer rock walls of the Hoher Dachstein with the saturated green meadows in the front.

I shot more than 2,000 pictures in these weeks and I plan to publish some more, so stay tuned!
